Redside Foundation Awards $1,000 Scholarships to Idaho Guides

The Redside Foundation Announces 2016-2017 Scholarship Recipients

Boise, ID (3 January 2017) – The Redside Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the health and strength of the Idaho guiding community, has announced its selection for three, $1000 education scholarships for Idaho guides.

The Telly Evans Memorial Scholarship, in honor of longtime Idaho guide Telly Evans, was awarded to Lafe Korell. Korell is a sophomore attending the University of Idaho and pursuing a degree in accounting and finance. Korell is originally from Emmett, Idaho. He is a hunting guide for his family’s outfitting business, Korell Outfitters out of Lowman, Idaho. He hopes to use his degree to eventually help run the family business.

Kate Stoddard was awarded the Idaho Guide Scholarship. Stoddard is pursuing a Masters Degree from the National University of Natural Medicine.  Originally from Boise, Idaho, Stoddard guides on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River for Middle Fork River Expeditions. She hopes to use her degree to advocate for preventative healthcare with the outlook that the health of the individual is interconnected with the health of their environment.

Allie Vostrejs was also awarded the Idaho Guide Scholarship. Vostrejs, originally from Colorado, is also a guide on the Middle Fork of the Salmon. She pursuing a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Colorado. Upon graduation she hopes to work at a firm that specializes in water resources and to continue to inspire people to play and find beauty in the great outdoors.

The Telly Evans Scholarship ($1000) is awarded annually to an Idaho commercial guide attending school at the University of Idaho. The Idaho Guide Scholarships (two awards of $1000) are awarded annually to two Idaho commercial guides attending any accredited university, trade school or professional school in the United States. Since incorporation in 2010, the Redside Foundation has awarded over $14,000 in education and professional development scholarships and grants.
